Why handovers are your real secret weapon

One of the most overlooked (but most important) parts of the sales cycle is the handover to Customer Success.

And let’s be honest, CS don’t get enough credit. They take your shiny new deal and turn it into a long-term customer.

A great handover builds trust, momentum and continuity.

Too often, Sales moves on, CS gets a few scattered notes, and the customer ends up repeating themselves like it’s Groundhog Day. Buyers deserve better.

🚀 Sales to CS handover tips

1. Don’t hand over a deal, hand over a story. Context is everything. Pass on the customer’s goals, pain points, what they care about, and why they bought.

2. Keep everything in one place. Notes, recordings, timelines, the lot. If CS has to dig through Slack threads and spreadsheets, long email chains, you’ve already lost time. (The perfect place? A trumpet Pod, obviously.)

3. Create a customer moment. When you hand over, do it with the customer. Introduce your CS lead personally, record a short video, or even share a “Welcome to the Club” note. Small touches matter.

4. Keep the feedback loop alive. Sales, check back in a month. Find out how onboarding went. That’s where upsell conversations and better referrals start.

🎺 Enter trumpet Pods

Our interactive Digital Sales Rooms are built to make the handover feel effortless.

When Sales wraps up, CS doesn’t start from scratch - they step into a shared workspace that already includes:

✅ Mutual Action Plans

✅ Meeting summaries

✅ Key goals and success metrics

✅ Procurement and pricing docs

✅ Technical info and timelines

And because Pods are live and collaborative, CS can keep adding onboarding materials, training videos, and next steps - no messy email threads required.

👀 Bonus tip: bring Slack into the mix

Every time your customer interacts with the Pod, trumpet sends real-time Slack notifications like “Jade viewed the onboarding timeline” or “New stakeholder added: CTO”. So CS can act fast, without hunting through dashboards.
